In a comment to my post about the exploding inflatable mattress twinfair noted that:

I misread that headline as "inflatable mistress" and this conjured up a whole different image!

I now have an image of a really bizarre alternative to the CIA's alleged exploding cigar plot to assassinate Castro.

The alleged "exploding cigar plot" is just one of the many bizarre CIA Castro-killing gambits discussed in John Ranelagh's magisterial history of the rise and fall of the CIA -- the plots came out during the Church Commission enquiry in the mid-70s, and I suspect if they got dredged up under oath by a congressional enquiry there's not much question over their authenticity.

My personal favourite was the plan to put Thallium in his boot polish, so that his beard would fall out, rendering him uncharismatic to the supposedly machismo-obsessive Cubans!
