A tempting target, but a dubious tactic

A blog post on why, however fun it is to suggest drowning The Sun in email, it's not actually legal to do so.

Thank you. Next time the b*stard COs in my institution launch a mailbombing campaign aimed at me (the point of contact for access and control issues) not giving them what they want, on a plate, with extra custard, (and not delivering it yesterday) I shall use this. At present I get this about once a term - usually a couple of thousand emails to wade through all saying the same thing, often launched as cron jobs.

Bloody tempted to withdraw all their accounts for 24 hours for computer misuse, but that wouldn't make the arguments any less vitriolic.

Good grief. One wonders what on earth good they think it would do, or what (strictly hypothetically speaking) would they do if each of their automated mails to you resulted in an automated response... or two... or more...

Well if you read Leon carefully one answer then is to mailbox the sun with emails they would normally be expecting eg "when are you giving eg at the Leveson enquiry?". I have long said neither 3a nor Lennon solves all the issues re ddos.
