Our new house in Cambridge is nearly ready (yay!)and although we won't be able to move in for another few weeks the builders have given us early access to do some decorating over the weekend of 11/12 October.

The main job is to wallpaper the living room, and this is not an area we have much experience of. So, does anyone rather more familiar with sticking paper to walls fancy a day trip to Cambridge to help out? (Some form of nutritional compensation could probably be arranged).

Additional work which may be tackled includes putting up curtain poles and replacing dull ceiling light fittings with nicer ones.

Good news about the house, though it sounds like your housewarming won't be until after I depart now.

'Fraid I know nothing about wallpaper, and am taking my nieces round South Kensington then, to squeeze in a year's worth of familial duty in.

I only do paint, varnish and tiling. Wallpaper I leave to Dad and I think he's busy that weekend. ;)

To be honest, I'd wonder if the house is still a bit too new. Fresh plaster can take quite a while to dry properly.

But after a few hundred years you'll need the paper to hold the wall together.
