Last weekend darth_hamster and I met up with owlfish, C and DH's work friend M and her partner I to try out the afternoon tea at the newly-opened Corinthia Hotel. It was an odd experience for me to go there as I recall it as the old Metropole Building of the MoD! It's now back to its pre-war role of a luxury hotel, and whilst the afternoon tea is hardly cheap it is certainly very nice, and the tea room itself is amazing. I was very taken with the chandelier from the French glass firm Baccarat; apparently each ball is a small light cluster in a paperweight-like globe of glass, and the entire thing weighs two tons. As I felt I did after the final round of cakes...
