BBC News have a Realplayer clip of last night's shuttle launch, featuring footage from the webcam bolted onto the external tank. Very nice footage all the way up to booster jettison, which coated the camera lens with soot from the separation motors! Next time NASA should try some sort of wind-on cover sheet like the racing-car webcams use.

Oh, and lots of guff about Piers Sellers being the third British astronaut, with only muted mention of the fact that he is in fact a US citizen as there's precious little chance of getting into space from this country...

That is way cool!

I always like the camera footage from serparated stages etc. on Apollo, and am glad to see NASA going back to some of those ideas.

As to another 'brit' astronaut, when will the press get some balls and actually say that if you're a Brit and want to go into space the only two ways to do it are to leqave the country, or become so ridiculously rich you can buy youself a trip?

All credit to BBC news online here for saying it like it is...

"Piers Sellers has got into space the only way a Briton can: by changing his nationality."
