Anbody want an Oscilloscope?
Aug. 17th, 2009 09:36 amI've plunged into my much-delayed Big Sort Out of the numerous boxes and plastic crates stacked up around my flat, to see if I can winnow down the accumulated junk and memorabilia of my life. One of the things I've been carting around for what must be a good quarter of a century now is an old oscilloscope that I think I blagged from school when it was about to be chucked into a skip.

When I say 'old' I mean it. It's a Telequipment Serviscope Minor, which whilst not quite a toy is little more than a very basic teaching oscilloscope. It works, although it takes a few seconds to warm up - a phrase I use in its literally true original technical sense, because this thing uses valves! (If you like, you can download the technical manual from here.) It's also very small and pretty light.

As you can see, it works, at least as far as generating a trace. I make no warranty whatsoever for its further functionality, expected lifespan or for that matter electrical safety. (In the latter respect, treat it as a small and very old TV, i.e. don't leave it plugged in unattended and for God's sake don't open it up and poke around inside unless you know how to safely earth electrolytic capacitors.) It also needs a good external clean. Having said all that, it is free to anyone who wants it, and if for some reason you need a prop that can do Scope-like things, then this is for you.
Free to anyone who wants it. I'll happily post it, but that means you pay for the P&P, which will probably be a few pounds within the UK.
