Ah, the sound of a Vulcan... (A guy I used to work with had been present when, as a "tribute" to Ted Heath, who was visiting Cyprus, the local RAF commander had arranged a flypast of 18 Vulcans at zero-ish feet. I still think it was an attempt to shake out his teeth.)
That's a beaut of a photo. I managed to get some stuff with my point-and-shoot on Friday, but nowhere near as good as that. What was the cloudbase like on Sunday? Friday it was at about 2000', which meant that the Typhoon couldn't do a loop straight off the ground...
Was the the Scout at the Alenia pavilion still on display? Although the picture I got was a little blurry, I noticed that it was badged as an aircraft of 666 Squadron. I know the unit was mentioned when Charlie was talking about black Concordes a while back, but I'd have thought the laundryverse could plausibly make use of a current AAC(volunteer) unit with that number.
Clouds were funny; thick and low, but very patchy and being blown about a lot by a stiff breeze. One minute it would be dark overcast, and the next clear blue and sunny over half the sky. This actually made for some nice pictures when you had a sunlit plane against a dark, almost stormy background.
Mind you, it was chuffing cold for a July afternoon!
