Clouds were funny; thick and low, but very patchy and being blown about a lot by a stiff breeze. One minute it would be dark overcast, and the next clear blue and sunny over half the sky. This actually made for some nice pictures when you had a sunlit plane against a dark, almost stormy background.
Mind you, it was chuffing cold for a July afternoon!
