Just a quick reminder that one of the best films of the 1980s is on ITV1 at 1035. Anthony Hopkins might have been scary as Hannibal Lecter, but five years earlier Brian Cox had been utterly chilling. Made by Michael Mann in the middle of his Miami Vice period - and boy, does it show - it's also notable for starring a very young William Peterson in a role that oddly prefigures, but is very different from, his one in CSI.

Fabulous, fabulous movie. But I have to be in bed in half an hour or so. And I've seen it several times. Love Mann's cool style. And both Cox and Peterson are very good in it.

Past my bed time - but we have been metaphorically chucking under the chin the picture of Baby Grissom in the Radio Times. It took him three weeks to grow that beard you know.

One of my favourite movies of all time. The bastards had the gall to remake it as Red Dragon. :-(

Ah yes - Ralph Fiennes as Dolarhyde, possibly the most spectacular bit of miscasting in movie history until Keanu Reeves played John Constantine.

damn! - I wish I'd seen your post sooner. I think Manhunter is a far better movie than the later Lecter ones.

Meh! Was working last night but thankfully, have the movie buried away somewhere. Really must think about DVD copy.

An excellent movie with all the trademarks of Michael Mann but entertaing to boot. Brian Cox was a great Lecter and Ralph Fiennes didn't do well in RED DRAGON (music was good tho').

It's a movie that makes me enjoy CRIMINAL MINDS all the more!
