The RAF is 90 years old today. Impressively, one of it's founding members is still with us.

On my flight home at Easter, the nice retired military officer told me all about his father who had an "epiphany" while sitting in the trenches, and promptly switched to the air force at the first opportunity.

Indeed. Happy birthday RAF! I was pleased to note that Sky News did give the birthday a mention on it's news bulletin this morning.

I also notice that BBC News is talking about last night's Berlin premier of The Red Baron. Unfortunately I doubt it'll get to Iceland, which is a pity, as it's a film I'd quite like to see (for the aircraft, not for the actors).

We had a flypast up the Thames - v. impressive. My Singaporean co-worker just caught the end of the smoke, and commented "So why have they coloured the smoke in red blue and err yellow?" I was somewhat harsh in my response that it was because we'd been magically transported to, ummm, Columbia?
