Dear me, that was... absolutely bonkers. Not only did the makers manage to spoof every cop movie since, well, forever, but I think they managed to spoof all the cop movie spoofs whilst they were at it.

I trust mevennen can advise on whether small-town Somerset life is really like this. Or if it's worse...

PS: Spot the sight gag involving the works of a well-known Scottish sf (and mainstream) writer.

The professional reviewers who said it went on too long were, I think, not fully immersed. My personal feeling is that the balance point between the period before our hero works out what is going on and after was just about spot on.

After this and Shaun of the Dead, I think I will watch anything with Pegg's name on it.

I thought it had a slow and ammusing if not funny start. However as soon as it kicks into gear all that time building pays off. So I agree -perfect length.

It wasn't just cop movies that were spoofed either. I spotted a Silent Hill and a Terminator 2 reference in there.

Great fun, but rather more bloody than pennski was entirely comfortable with...

I'm going to have to see this, I can see. They shot it in Wells, which is about 8 miles from us (Wells itself is rather respectable and pleasant).
