Non-football nights in pubs?
Aug. 24th, 2009 11:09 amI've been looking for a pub to act as the host venue for our quiz team. The main requirements are:
- Room big enough for a table with four people seated each side.
- Free alternate Tuesday evenings.
- Does decent beer.
- Can lay on a platter of food for competitors at reasonable cost.
- Ideally, doesn't charge for room.
I've found a suitable pub but the downstairs main bar has TV screens and the online reviews suggest that it can get a bit rowdy on match nights. Here I show my near-complete ignorance of football: are there ever major televised football league matches on Tuesdays?
(I'd look elsewhere, but of all the pubs I looked at it had by far the best function room - medium-sized, free, and completely separate from the bar. Several pubs that advertised as having function space actually meant that they could reserve a table, which is no good for a team-v-team quiz.)
