We've got a large flowerpot on our patio, full of pansies (except when the bunnies eat them). Just now [livejournal.com profile] bugshaw noticed a squirrel playing around by it; on closer inspection, it was avidly licking the side of the pot:

Presumably it was after the green mould/algae that covers most stuff left out in the garden for long enough. But it must have found it very tasty, as it was licking away with a rapt attention that made me wonder if the pot was loaded with sugar, or perhaps whatever the squirrel equivalent of catnip is.

[livejournal.com profile] bugshaw was sorting through some of the odds and ends from her late grandmother's estate when she came across what seemed to be a small locket, just over a centimetre across. Close inspection revealed that it actually contains two tiny dice!

We've no idea when it was from, or who it originally belonged to (I can imagine it as a watch-chain fob for a gambler, perhaps?) But it does seem oddly appropriate that it's ended up in the household of a couple of gamers!
