bugshaw was sorting through some of the odds and ends from her late grandmother's estate when she came across what seemed to be a small locket, just over a centimetre across. Close inspection revealed that it actually contains two tiny dice!



We've no idea when it was from, or who it originally belonged to (I can imagine it as a watch-chain fob for a gambler, perhaps?) But it does seem oddly appropriate that it's ended up in the household of a couple of gamers!

No hallmarks - the case appears to be brass rather than gold - and indeed no other identifying information. I'm inclined to take it along to a valuer just to get some idea of its likely background.

I can't help thinking that it would be attractive to a number of different collectors - I've never seen anything similar, but I'll check my 1906 Army and Navy catalogue this evening.
