RPG writer and Expert On Weird Ken Hite (aka [livejournal.com profile] princeofcairo) reviews Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle:

...which his publishers call a trilogy, which he calls a 3,000-page novel, and which I call an 800-page novel with 2,200 pages of explanatory notes delivered, in the style of a Galilean discourse, by symbolic mouthpieces.

...and loves it.

Did you meet Ken when he was in Cambridge last year?

Yes, although I first met him at a room party at the 2001 Worldcon. (He was serving up his patent Antarctic Space Nazi cocktails. They glow blue). He's easily one of the most interesting people I've met in fandom and certainly deserves to be better known beyond the gaming world.

Susanna Clarke is having the book launch for her novel Johnathan Strange and Mr Peabody at Heffers on the 14th of October more info which should be well worth attending if you and Bridget are around.
Apologies for posting here rather than doing a proper e-mail.
