Waffling about Martian Dicolouration

Whilst looking for some info on how the Mars Rover colour images are produced (I knew they were assembled from monochrome components, but wanted details so I could try it myself) I found this extremely detailed and readable guide to the whole issue. Remarkably enough it's from a conspiracy-theory site, and the author started off trying to inject some realism into a thread on 'some of the colour pictures look inconsistent, so the whole thing must be a fake'. The article itself is excellent, although sadly the accompanying discussion thread is rather depressing in places.

It was a little startling to see, among the example images in the discussion thread, a picture of the building where I work. (Well, my office has moved to a smaller building next door, but I had an office in Wilson Hall for many years, and often looked out over the prairie flowers, the deer, the raccoons, and the red-tailed hawks.)

Now I feel I'm being watched by Martian conspiracy theorists.
