PopSci Writes Up Plokta Con and Autopope

Popular Science magazine has an article featuring autopope's take on the Singularity. Not bad, although the description of the fan crowd at Plokta Con 3.0 is rather unflattering...

Also, they sadly omit Charlie's most striking metaphor on the impact of the concept of the Singularity on sf, which as I recall was along the lines of "The Singularity is this enormous turd that Vernor Vinge crapped into the punchbowl of sf writing, and now nobody wanting to take a drink can ignore it."

I used my own recollection of that quote in a Vector review of Singularity Sky. Too good to pass up.
