Terry Pratchett has this great idea in the Discworld books of 'narrative imperative' - certain things have to happen in a particular way, 'cos that's how the story works.

Glad to see it works here, too. As the BBC report, the Flying Squad today foiled an attempted bullion robbery carried out by a gang of villains in, of course, a white Transit.

There's no report that the head copper screeched onto the scene in a Granada and yelled "You're nicked!", but I suppose you can't have everything.

(Remembering this, or to be more honest, this.)

Happy memories! At one point James Wallis (Hogshead Games) was planning to launch a TV cop-show game called Get your trousers on, you're nicked! but there simply wouldn't have been enough of a market to make it a viable product. I played in one of the test games, it was a lot of fun.

I am now trying to imagine a Collectible Card Game built around London't criminal history, real and fictional.

Which somehow leads to Jason King, Simon Templar, and Fabian of the Yard nailing Jack (CMOT) Dibbler for selling dodgy meat pies.

We had an ex-Sweeny Granada when I was a kid. Great car, astoundingly quick - or so my brother said me being too young to drive it.

Real shame when we got ridc of it.
