I Want My PowerPC
Dec. 4th, 2003 06:55 pm...specifically the PowerPC G4 inside the nice new iBook I ordered a week and a half ago. Yes, after all the umming and ahhing, I finally committed myself to coming over to the Light Side and put myself down for a 12" iBook G4. Having taken onboard the advice I was given, I requested that it be loaded up to the maximum hard drive and memory available (as well as Bluetooth and Airport Extreme) which made it a config-to-order rather than off-the-shelf purchase. "Seven to ten days" I was told, er, ten days ago. Except that when I last did an online order status check the forecast was now thirteen days. A call to the dealer to check this rather frightening figure confirmed that yes, Apple had had rather a run on iBooks, but I really should have it by, oh, the fifteenth.
This is mildly peeving as I have next week off, mainly to finish sorting out the house before Xmas, but I had rather hoped to have a nice new iBook to play with. Oh well, anticipation is half the fun, and it's still a hell of a lot better than the old Sinclair 'allow twenty-eight (and the rest) days for delivery'.
