'Earthlight' turned off

Publishers Simon & Schuster have announced that they are going to axe the 'Earthlight' SF and Fantasy imprint.

This is very bad news indeed, both for writers and readers of SF/Fantasy. But what did we expect from the outfit that tried to market Chris Priest's The Separation as mainstream and screwed up so badly that copies are rarer than rocking-horse shit?

I seem to have gotten silence from Earthlight in recent months whereas a couple of years ago their publicity was quite good. Oh dear.

Hopefully the good people in S&S are going to other imprints - like the new Tor UK imprint from Pan MacMillan.
