I've picked up a copy of a new computer and console games magazine, gamesTM. It seems to be aiming for a very definite segment of the games magazine market, positioning itself just below Edge (similar 'arty' format and design but not quite so self-consciously postmodern) but above the single-platform glossies. It's also heavily pitched at the nostalgia market, with a large chunk of its pages devoted to features on games, consoles and even games magazines of the past. If it keeps the standards of the pilot issue (always a point to wonder about) it looks like it should provide a good mix of detailed but fairly objective reviews, more general articles and fond reminisences. Issue 01 on sale now, £4 for 180 pages.
