AvantGo has stopped working on my Jornada. It's trying to sync to the right server, and I know I've got the right password configured, but it just tries to connect for a minute or so then says 'network services unavailable'.

Grrr. This means I'll actually have to read a normal newspaper on the train thismorning. Assuming one gets delivered on time!

Soft reboot the Jornada. It usually fixes it for me...

Unfortunately, my Jornada proved more stubborn. It looks liked I've just managed to fix the problem after two hours' mucking around this evening; in the end I had to to a hard reset and complete re-install of AvantGo (taking the opportunity to update the client a little). Fortunately I keep a regular backup of all my personal files on the PDA's CF card so this didn't involve any loss of data but what a pain to resolve.

This is actually why I'm not such an 'early adopter' as might be expected; my geekiness is tempered by intolerance for gadgets that don't work smoothly, so I tend to leave buying them until they're established tech. The Jornada was a freebie though - really its on free loan from work, but if I ever have to give it back I'm going straight out to buy one of my own.
