At ten days, the baby gerbils have now developed enough fur that they have made a suprisingly rapid transition from pink blobs to what are undeniably very small rodents. Their colours and markings are coming through nicely, and by dint of careful inspection we now think we might even be able to tell what sex they are.

I'm afraid we've been rather dull and instead of naming them (which feels a bit premature) we've taken a leaf out of the Borg's book and given the little things numbers:

We think '1 of 8' is female and '2 of 8' is male.

'3' is female too.

'4' and '5' are so similar we wonder if they are true identical twins. They're both female.

'6' is another male.

And '7' and '8' are female.
So, 6 females and 2 males, and an impressive mix of patterns. Oh, and they are now getting very active indeed.
