LJ seems to have swallowed my comment (unless they're being screened, in which case delete this comment.)

[livejournal.com profile] parrot_knight, in a critique, suggests "Dodgem Daleks", which sums up the new shape perfectly, and includes the colour scheme.

The "So It Come to This, Product Placement, Fisher-Price, DayGlo" Daleks.

Technically, I suppose they are not DayGlo and there is probably a batter term for their bright, plasticy colours.

I thought the episode was not particularly sillier than most Classic or NuWho, but the Daleks were out of line. I can see that they might have thought that a larger Dalek might be scarier, but they just look ridiculous with their plasticy extuberances, humped backs and over-thick bumpers. Just what was the Moff thinking?

Needs work, but my immediate reaction was 'they're like Smart Cars, you can swap the panels and get pretty colours'.

[livejournal.com profile] jeremy_m, who drives a Smart did not disagree.

Voting and commenting on behalf of squirrelmonkey who suggested this before the new season. ([livejournal.com profile] bugshaw will vouch for this)

Dr. Seuss And The Daleks

One dalek, two dalek,
Red dalek, blue dalek,
Black dalek, blue dalek,
Old dalek, new dalek.
This one has a little star.
This one has a little car.
Say, what a lot of daleks there are!
Some are red and some are blue.
Some are old and some are new.
some are sad and some are glad,
And some are very, very bad.
Why are they sad and glad and bad?
I do not know. Go ask your dad.
Some are thin and some are fat.
The fat one has a yellow hat...

They even seem to snap together rather neatly, keepnig the beast inside fresh and crisp.

Choice number one was the instant impression for both of us - Trev "Power Daleks!", me "Can they combine into one giant dalek?"

This just in, to add to the general mockery:

However, I have to see that physically painful on the eyes though they are, if they can revert to actually being Daleks - mean, bitter, spiteful, hair-trigger psychopaths with inferiority complexes - then I'll be happy, regardless of what they look like.
