(Actually, promotion one more rank - to Wing Commander - would probably have come my way within a another few years. But if you substitute 'getting selected for staff college', which was the prerequisite for promotion beyond that, then this strip is pretty much bang on.)

My employer does not do this. They don't offer promotion. If you start out as a worker, a worker you will stay until either you find a better job or are fired to save money.
