I am distracting myself by watching a DVD I picked up cheap the other day - The Da Vinci Code. I think I can deduce the existence of the following cover note.

Dear Rusty,

Please find enclosed your patent Total Bollocks Overdrive, the loan of which I am most grateful for. I do hope that I did not overstrain it when I attached the turbocharger, afterburner and electrodes, but I felt that my film of Mr Brown's novel needed everything I could wring out of it. I am sure that you will be able to recalibrate it for further work on that Torchwood thing you were telling me about in your last email.

Yours,

Ron Howard

Yes, but presumably Opie had to borrow it again for the sequel, which features (at least in the book) an American spaceplane of fatally flawed design, operated by a major European high energy physics laboratory.

Other than that detail, I have no idea how Mr. Brown topped his first epic, nor how the filmmakers intend to modify it.
