Flower Bee

More pictures from Russia Dock woods in Surrey Quays, taken whilst walking off a very nice lunch with [livejournal.com profile] drplokta, [livejournal.com profile] flickgc and [livejournal.com profile] owlfish. In a break from recent tradition, not all of them are waterfowl, as you'll see above.

Do you know if the leaf in the photo belongs to the flower? It might be some form of primula denticulata (though that is a guess on my part). They are more likely to grow in boggy areas.

Yes, they were part of the same shrub. I wouldn't describe the area as especially boggy, mind you, although it is low-lying and near water.

If it was a shrub, then it wasn't a primula. They're much lower-growing. Bog primulas send the flower stalk up about a foot, but that's all. The ground doesn't have to be a bog per se, but the do like it to be pretty damp.
