Swans. Such serene, peaceful creatures, aren't they?

No, not really. (Click on any picture for a bigger version).

It didn't look as if any lasting harm was done, but I certainly learned what coot swearwords sound like! With thanks to [livejournal.com profile] flickgc and [livejournal.com profile] drplokta, who were showing me around the scenery at the former Surrey Docks when we got treated to this little fracas.

Great photos. Once watched a swan chase off a dog that was hassling ducks in a lake. The swan gently cruised over, and when he reached the dog reared up full height, wings out stretched. You have never seen a dog swim so fast.
