After a bit of a difficult morning I finally got around to taking advantage of today's lovely weather to head up to Loch Leven, about 40 minutes north of Edinburgh. It was a beautiful sight, millpond-flat under a clear blue sky, and I was able to get a fair few nice pictures. This is probably my favourite, a panorama made from three shots at the edge of the loch where the lochside path runs past a shallow marshy inlet.

More pictures from the set can be seen here.

On the way back, I drove over the Forth Road Bridge just as the sun was setting. The Forth Rail Bridge was a magnificent sight to my left, so I peeled off the A90 to go to South Queensferry and the shore near the bridge. More photos, of which this one came out best; it's a very long exposure to blur the motion of the water.

Oooh, pretty bridge.

This reminds me, I've been meaning to ask if you've played around with high dynamic range imaging yet.

I certainly have. All done with Photomatix, which seems to give much better results than the HDR tool in Photoshop CS3.

That photo of the bridge makes me so nostalgic. I've spent so long standing right there...

Two great shots, but that second one is a real classic.

These are lovely. It's been like that down here, but without the snow.

Just realised this is water. I must be going blind.

The Forth Road Bridge one is beautiful.

I can recommend a trip up to St. Andrews for the castle, the cathedral and the other historic buildings - on a good day they look stunning.

Those are gorgeous -- and I am happy to see that you overcame your difficult morning and escaped to light and air and beauty.

That long exposure makes the bottom of the picture look like dry ice - a lovely way of making a beautiful sight into a fantastic picture.
