Dear Sirs,

I wish to register my displeasure regarding the intrusive and annoying sidebar advert that you have placed on Facebook web pages. I have never been fond of web sites that play sounds or music at me without asking, but normally all I have to do is navigate away from them. However, as a regular Facebook user I have to endure your advert, which repeatedly plays irrespective of whether I click on it, hover my mouse over it, or whatever.

As a resident of Cambridge, I have the choice of using One or First Capital Connect for my journeys into London. You are doing nothing to persuade me to travel via your service, and much to put me off. I would not care to hazard a guess as to how much you paid for this misconceived advert, but it was not money well spent.

It makes me jump whenever it plays. There's a low rumble and people start screaming and I think there's an earthquake. Not having a large woofer of my own, I'm often taken by surprise at the effect Simon's has on me (it's quite near my right ear).

There are extradoubleplusannoying adds on Facebook, from companies who ought to know better and who I am actually in a position to meaningfully grouse at.
