So preposterous and convoluted that it has more Total Bollocks Overdrive than the entire first season of Torchwood. Angelina Jolie maintains an impressively straight face and as a series of action scenes it provides diverting fun. But did Chiwetel Ejiofor wake up one day and find he'd forgotten how to do Menacing Authority?

The A Team

By contrast The A Team knows it's meant to be preposterous and so works far, far better as a movie. It's also hysterically funny, especially if you're even remotely fond of the original. Liam Neeson is surprisingly convincing as Hannibal Smith, but standout of the movie is Sharlto Copley - last seen in District 9 - as Howlin' Mad Murdock.

Toy Story 3

Everyone's already raved about this, so I'll just say that I went in with high expectations and they were thoroughly exceeded. Oh, and if you suspect that someone you know might be a replicant, see if they cry during the final five minutes - it's the new Voight-Kampff test.

Frontier Blues

Vignettes of overlapping lives on the Iran/Turkmenistan border near the Caspian - a region which, if the film is to believed, is the local counterpart to Darkest Norfolk. This review sums it up better than either darth_hamster or I can, although we both heartily agree with it.
