Cat-sitting for [livejournal.com profile] fjm for the next few days. I've been sat upon my Ms P, which is by all accounts a high honour, and evidently I didn't contaminate her dinner too much by being the Wrong Sort Of Food Ape, as she eat it.

I've just finished my skeleton argument for my Advocacy practical tomorrow. A 'skelly' is a note-form summary of the legal submission you intend to make, serving both as a guide for the judge you are appearing in front of and a helpful prompt and reference for yourself. Ideally, skeleton arguments are submitted in advance of hearings so that the judge has some idea what you will be saying (and can think up some hard questions!) As such, there's an art to writing them: too sparse, and they don't really help, but too detailed and they end up making all your good points for you and so undermine your chance to do really effective oral advocacy.

In other news, the Three Strikes report I co-authored has now been written up in The Register. [livejournal.com profile] cairmen is once again being a Hero of the Internet by co-ordinating the popular response so hie thee to his post and get writing to the appropriate Ministers.
