- Dark Knight is very impressive in IMAX. Although only a few key scenes are actually shot in IMAX, as opposed to being upconverted to 70mm, these are well-chosen as ones where the extra detail comes to the fore. Also, having the opening sequence in IMAX really sucks the viewer in.
- For that matter, if you liked the Watchmen trailer, wait until you see it in IMAX.
- Heath Ledger was indeed superb. So were Gary Oldman and Aaron Eckhart. Christian Bale was good, but his Batman is rather one-note. This, of course, may be the point.
- I felt that plot was a bit over-complex, and a bit far-fetched in comparison with the very realist tone the film seemed to be striving for. Having said that, it certainly held your attention (even past 4am!) and more than managed the whole 'dark' thing.

Worth seeing? Definitely. Worth paying the premium for IMAX, and either waiting for a performance with a space or going at some outlandish time? I think so.

More in my steady trickle of pictures from the Farnborough Air Show

Blades Display 22

I took rather a lot of pictures at Farnborough, a good many of them being of the Blades aerobatic display team. Composed of former Red Arrows pilots, they fly small but high-performance Extra 300 aircraft that allow for a display sequence that, whilst not as noisy as with jet aircraft, is a lot more nimble and complex. Rather than try to post even a subset of my pictures here, I'm linking instead to this Flickr search that brings them all up - albeit in reverse order, so start at the bottom.
