To BSFA or Not To BSFA?

Ug. Been revising most of the evening. Results likely to turn into another LJ post - you have been warned!

Rather in two minds as to whether to go to the BSFA evening meet tomorrow. I usually make a point of going, but tomorrow's guest is Cory Doctorow. This somewhat puts me off as

a) I'm afraid I find Cory's brand of opinionated self-promotion to be rather tiresome, and

b) I suspect the event's going to be slashdotted to hell and the upstairs bar of the Star will be like the Bakerloo line at rush hour.

Which is a pity, as I was looking forward to wishing purplecthulhu a Happy Birthday in advance (so Many Happy Returns here and now!)
