Should I Send It Chocolates?
Aug. 28th, 2004 11:10 pmWell, the iBook has gone off to the Hospital for Poorly Macs. I phoned Applecare, who after a prolonged discussion of the symptoms agreed with my diagnosis that the Ethernet port had, um, stopped working. Normally a repair would involve getting it picked up but when I pointed out that I lived only half a km from an authorised Apple dealer (the Cambridge branch of Cancom), Apple agreed I could just hand it in through them.
So, a fortnight or so sans iBook, which means it's back to the old PC that has been sitting in a corner for the last few months whilst I dithered over whether to get rid of it or turn it into a Linux box. Oh, and iPods are indeed very useful for making quick backups!
On other news, bought a new kitchen table (metal legs, toughened glass top) to replace the antique wood one which both looks out of place and is far too nice for that sort of use. Tomorrow is the meccano-set fun of putting it together. Finished off the day by watching the DVD of the Ian McKellen Richard III that I picked up the other week, which I enjoyed both as a Shakespeare play and as a peek into the world of a 1930s alternate history.
