We watched our video of the first episode earlier tonight.

That's half an hour of our lives we won't get back...

I just had much the same experience... Supernova was significantly better.

I'm not sure I'm going to write it off after the first episode — but I'm not particularly hopeful at this stage. If asked to summarise - it's like the result of Red Dwarf miscegenating with The Office.

And I'm not a fan of the latter.

And possibly a touch of Dark Star...

I had the feeling that everyone was trying too hard to be funny, coming out a little like The Marx Brothers or The Crazy Gang.

And they diidn't have the talent or material to pull that off.

Fortunately, I was working on something else while it was on.

I have an interview with Nick Frost where he claims that... (just a mo, got to get The Independent off the sofa)... "The series is set in 2151 on a spaceship called HMS Camden Lock. With science fiction there's always a danger that 50 percent of the population is going to switch off immediately, so we've tried to make it more about the relationships between the characters than the fact they work on a spaceship."

Translation: girls don't like scifi so we are going to pretend it's Corrie in space.

"Miranda Hart and I have this great Kenneth Williams and Hattie Jacques-type chemistry."

Bollocks to that! You don't even come near!

"She's this ball of untapped sexual energy."

Which I assume is untapped because, well, she's a bit fat. Oh grow UP BBC writers.

I should probably send this to the "as others see us" bit of Ansible.

Which is why we write slash, of course.

I guess we're in the minority here because we really liked it. It's not the funniest thing ever but it had some good stuff, it had Kevin Eldon doing his thing, and it looked great. I think it'll be a grower and we'll definitely be taping it for the forseeable (clashes with Desperate Housewives so I think their search for the female non-geek demographic may be slightly doomed).
