Ken H's Encyclopedia* of Eliptony
Jan. 4th, 2006 10:22 amI'm sure this isn't the first time I'll have recommended
princeofcairo - alias Kenneth Hite - as a worthy addition to one's regular LJ reading. Role-playing-game author, sf fan, erudite reviewer and (remarkably sane and level-headed) enthusiast of the weird and unusual, Ken is also, as anyone who has chatted to him in a convention room party or bar can attest, a Thoroughly Nice Chap.
However, now seems a good time to mention him again, as he's in the midst of a series of capsule reviews of selected books from his Eliptony Shelves. 'Eliptony' is Ken's term for material "...that encompasses the occult, the fringe, the pseudoscientific, the New Age, the magickal, the Fortean, and so forth..."; he's certainly built up quite a collection by the looks of it. Rest assured, he does review more mainstream stuff too now and again, such as this one of Black Light by Elizabeth Hand, who (in a completely coincidental plug) happens to be a GoH at a certain convention I might have some minor involvement in.
But enough from my LJ; go and take a peek at his.
*He's from Chicago, so he'd spell it like that.
