Mar. 8th, 2004 11:31 pmI do like The Register, but I rather think the folks there are stretching things a bit in this report on the bunch of Russian scientists stranded on a melting ice floe (and now thankfully rescued):
The 12 researchers at North Pole-32 - situated 700 km north-west of the Spitzbergen archipelago - escaped intact but now face an ordeal reminiscent of John Carpenter's The Thing.
Unless, that is, one of the frozen boffins really is a shape-shifting alien monster intent on assimilating and imitating everyone in sight. In which case we probably haven't heard the end of this...
