I do like The Register, but I rather think the folks there are stretching things a bit in this report on the bunch of Russian scientists stranded on a melting ice floe (and now thankfully rescued):

The 12 researchers at North Pole-32 - situated 700 km north-west of the Spitzbergen archipelago - escaped intact but now face an ordeal reminiscent of John Carpenter's The Thing.

Unless, that is, one of the frozen boffins really is a shape-shifting alien monster intent on assimilating and imitating everyone in sight. In which case we probably haven't heard the end of this...

Ah, I'd actually left the link blank, which in an LJ post seems to make the link point back to whichever page it is being viewed in. Now corrected.
