Just seen the film after a struggle of epic proportions to avoid seeing a trailer.
It was a mess, an utter mess, with bits in there for no very good reason. The Cthulu monster can incubate at a ludicrous pace and gain mass when locked in room with no food source. The creatures worked according to whatever effect someone came up with rather than biology, logic, reason and common sense. It all looked good, but I don't care.
The abortion scene is a perfect example of what seemed like a good idea, but does nothing for the story. I'm certain you could cut that whole section seemlessly and the tacks wouldn't show.
I wanted to know all about the space jockeys when I first saw Alien, but now when they are discovered in the next film, it'll be infected by the nonsense of Prometheus.
Whatever happened to having an idea, and then following it logically to an inevitable, but unexpected, ending?
