I am not going to abandon LiveJournal.

I will not be complicit in cyber-bullying. If we allow ourselves to be driven off LJ, are we really naive enough to think that a substitute blogging platform is going to somehow be immune to such behaviour?

I don't really get all this. DDOS happens - it usually doesn't happen for very long. Do we have evidence LJ is being blackmailed??.

I agree. I suspect that we're seeing an escalation in cyber attacks - although one must suspect that there are going to be ways of beating the current type of DDoS soon... they'll then find new ways ad nauseum.

In fairness to the Russian government, one of its more senior officials (who is also an LJ user) describes the DDos attacks as "возмутительными и незаконными", "revolting and illegal".

Staying here for the time being myself.
