Way Cool Website of the Day - JTrack 3D
Jul. 21st, 2002 09:51 amEver wanted your own space mission control centre? Have you dreamed of sitting amidst gigantic wall-screens displaying real-time projections of the networks of satellites above our heads?
Well, you'll still have to go and buy the wall-size screens yourself. But the satellite display is available now via JTrack 3D, a NASA web site that uses a Java applet to present a projection of 500 satellites and rocket stages in real time. It's got a delightfully intuitive user interface, letting you click and drag the display to freely rotate it to see the interlaced plots from almost any perspective. The parent web site has links to similar neat stuff such as visibility predictions, although for the latter you really can't beat the superb Heavens Above.
MC, who can't seem to find the Iron Chicken on JTrack...
