Spam = No more anonymous comments

Owing to anonymous spam comments in a recent open post, I've disabled commenting except by authorised users. I'm not sure if this includes people who post via OpenID, so if you are such a reader could you try leaving a comment to see if you can? (And if you can't, send me a message.)

Do do you have the IP address, was it 125.14.*.* or 125.15.*.*?

If so, he's spreading to my f-list now. I should stop mentioning him in my posts.

Ah, you're posting from your LJ account, yes? I was trying to see if people who posted from other systems via OpenID could still comment if I turned comments to 'registered users only'.

Sorry about that. I don't think it's a normal spam bot since it can break captchas, and I think it spreads to people's f-lists.

Nah, I logged out of LJ to test, and the OpenID option is greyed out as is the Anonymous one.

I just tried with my DW OpenID, and it wouldn't let me comment.

Ok, I've amended my settings to require moderation of anonymous comments and a CAPTCHA to post them. That ought to at least stop spam showing up but allow OpenID friends to comment.
