A couple of weeks ago I found a particularly large cobble the painful way and sprained my right ankle. I was able to make it the last couple of hundred metres home and even go down to London that evening but if you noticed me limping slightly at Picocon, well that's why.

I could walk without discomfort within a few days but the ankle was still a bit sore, especially on the outside (I found resting my right ankle on my left knee while sitting, as I'm prone to do, uncomfortably painful). And, as S noted, it was still visibly swollen compared to the left one.

Today, I'm walking back from the city centre - fortunately with S - when I found another dodgy bit of pavement and did exactly the same thing. Ow, ow, ow. Much more painful this time, and no question of walking home; S flagged down a taxi. I spent most of this evening lying down with my now orange-sized ankle in a tubigrip and with frozen peas applied. It is now sore rather than painful and I can walk slowly rather than hobble, but I really hope I don't make a habit of this. As it happens I can work from home tomorrow, but I think I may be polishing up my old RAF boots for Thursday - the ankle support may come in handy.
