...went fairly well, all in all. Thanks to everyone who wished me well!

I had to answer two questions from four in both the Land Law and Trusts part of the paper; my feeling is that one of my answers was near-textbook, another was fairly good and the other two entirely adequate. I stuck with answering problem rather than essay questions, even though there was one of the latter on a topic (adverse possession) I felt I understood well. However, my usual caution on tackling essays in exams won out - there's always the worry with them that your argument, however good, might not be along the lines of the model answer that the marker is working from.

I'm hesitant to guess how well I did overall. From the OU's own stats, some 25% of W301 students who sit the final exam get a level 1 (i.e. Distinction) pass, and I'd like to think I've been in the upper quartile of my tutor group. On the other hand, it still has a reputation as a tough course, and the notional mark for an L1 pass - 85% - is quite a high target to aim for, although there's evidence that in practice it often gets moderated down a bit.

So, a few months off at last, before I start next year's course on "Law: The Individual and the State". Lots of juicy stuff on criminal law, suitably counterbalanced with constitutional issues and judicial review. In the mean time, I'm planning to do some personal study on intellectual property law, on the grounds both that it's a topic of a lot of interest to me and that if I want to start talking to potential employers I ought to know a bit about the specialist area I might want to work in.
