In fairness, IMAP email is probably one of the oldest and least novel aspects of cloud computing, and the idea of having your email held on a central server for access from anywhere is one I'd think most users are comfortable with. If anything, that makes it more frustrating that Apple seems to be having trouble making it work at the moment.
