Nelson x 12

Remember that rather spaced-out picture of Nelson I posted yesterday?

Over on Facebook my friend Ewan (WINOLJ) ran it through Prisma, a new app that sends a picture up to a server where it's apparently run through some neural-net software trained to try to emulate various art styles. The results were quite impressive so I downloaded it onto the iPad and had a go myself.

Several of these I'd like as artwork. And third row middle looks like an excerpt from a graphic novel I'd love to read.

Yes, that one definitely looks like it's from Sandman or something. How much does Prisma cost?

It's free, but so far is only available as a mobile app for iOS or Android. (The resolution of individual pics is also limited and as you can see it watermarks each one.)

Even though it's a sever-side application, there doesn't seem to be a web interface yet. At a guess, I'd say that this may be because running the client as a mobile app means that all the handling of uploading and downloading images can be delegated to the mobile device the app is running on, rather than having to create and handle an account for each user. However, I do hope they open it up - from the results I've seen, I'd be prepared to shell out a few quid for a version that worked with high-res images from the desktop.

Ditto - I've got some art filters I use quite a lot for illustrating my RPGs, more choice would be very useful, but I'd want high res.

Oooh! I might have a play with Prisma myself, though I rather love the original BlueCat version.
