Oxfam Coffee

Oxfam are to open a chain of fairtrade coffee shops.

Which is a very Good Thing, as although both Starbucks and Costa offer fairtrade coffee, my experience is that even when you ask for it the staff more often than not forget to use it (either that or they don't charge it, which I would doubt).

Now this comes as I'm consciously trying to cut back on yuppy coffee; I had a longish day in London last week which I realised involved three lattes costing about £7 and 700 calories or so. Actually, call that £10 and 1000+ calories as I had a chocolate pastry with one of them. However, I can feel worthy about spending money in an Oxfam-led coffee shop, and I can always kid myself that ethical nosh has fewer calories... :-)

I hope this does well and they spread. When available I take a fairtrade option in a major chain but I'd rather go to a fully fairtrade shop.

Fairtrade goods have negative calories :-)

I thought that the first Oxfam Cafe was supposed to be in Cambridge, but maybe not...
