From Marmosets to Mutant Sheep
Middle Temple Library has recently uploaded 610 images from its old books and journals to the Science Photo Library. Most were apparently from the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, between 1721 and 1766.
You can look through them here; some are strange, many are gruesome, most are beautifully illustrated. Plenty of inspiration among these!
