You make my point, If Wiscon had had a functioning code of conduct agreed at the point of sale they (the committee) would have been protected against the very things that were eventually thrown at them. Having an extra hoop for congoers to jump through achieves little more than to alienate them.

Though in practice I felt very nervous about saying or doing anything at Loncon3 that might remotely be construed as flaunting privilege even without this extra box to tick. And I was there as a lone, if elderly woman.
