My body needs a better diary (or else has far too good a one)

It is the first day of three weeks of leave for me. Time to sort stuff out around the house, go places and generally do things.

I have of course therefore spent the day in bed with a nasty bout of lower back pain. Why does my body only ever misbehave when I've got time off?

On the plus side, I've made some headway with my latest heroic attempt to actually read The Baroque Cycle. Perhaps having Radio 3 play continuous Bach is helping keep me in the mood.

That's enough sitting up for now.

Simple: over-developed work ethic :-S Any idea what might be causing the pain? Mine has never been pinned down, but has gradually moved up and away...

Backpain

I fully sympathise with you, spent much of this morning in bed waiting for the painkillers to kick in. My lower backpain has been diagnosed Spina Bifida Occulta. I'm fine for weeks on end then oh boy it will kick in and lay me flat.

I loved the baroque cycle.... I must really get my copies back of people....

I do hope the back pain fades away soon -- though I am actually rather jealous that you get to stay in bed listening to Bach and reading the Baroque Cycle!

Re your body misbehaving only once you're off work: I used to get this a lot when I worked in the City. Cold- and germ-free for months, then they'd all hit at once on my way to the airport and sunnier climes. I think it's a work ethic / stress thing.

And I suspect I now have the opposite: my cold didn't kick in until I'd started werk ...
